About the Regulation Office

Mission and Values Statement

Our mission is to protect AHB assets and safeguard the interests of their current and future tenants by regulating for a well-governed, well managed and financially viable sector.

The Regulatory Structure

The Regulatory Structure takes the form of

The iRC is a committee under the Housing Agency, but with independent decision making powers. The Regulation Office reports to the iRC.

The iRC operates according to the principles set out in the State's Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies which can be found here.

The Committee is currently reviewing the requirements of the Code of Practice for Governance of State Bodies, published in September 2016, under which regulatory bodies are covered. The Committee will review its existing structure in line with the updated requirements and ensure compliance with this Code of Practice.

The iRC has also adopted a Code of Conduct which can be accessed here.

A register of members interests has also been established.

Protocol for Working Arrangements

A formal protocol has been established setting out:

  • how the functions and duties of the Interim Regulatory Committee will be exercised within the Housing Agency.
  • the roles and relationships of the Interim Regulation Committee, The Housing Agency Board, the staff of the Housing Agency and the Department.
