Title: Modular Circularity
Overview: Modular Circularity aims to examine how construction waste materials and components could be prepared for reuse with the requirements of a modular construction framework. By rationalising the post-use processing into specific modular ranges, this study proposes to establish a decision-making framework to promote broader use of 2nd-use materials and components.
As a design-led analytical and synthetic process, the work will be subject to cross checking against standard models of construction, innovative case studies where applicable (international) and by critical engagement with the subject matter.
Therefore, this research poses two questions:
- What standardised dimensions could be established for waste or salvaged materials?
- What guidance could be established for a set of modular Construction and Spatial dimensions to maximise the potential for modular integration of materials and components for re-use?
