Title: Compact Urban Growth: Opportunities and Challenges for High Density Housing

Overview:

This research is exploring the question as to how higher residential densities can be achieved which are high quality, where people want to live and are sustainable.

Literature on compact growth and high-density housing has been evaluated. Both national and international policy development has also been appraised. In Ireland, this includes the National Planning Framework, regional, city/county plans and national guidelines.

In combination with the literature and policy review, interviews with key stakeholders are being utilised to develop a methodology to analyse density capacity and how higher densities could be implemented.
